Police: Crack Arrestee Had $2,000 Worth of Marijuana

report that a man arrested Tuesday in Flanders on an outstanding charge related to crack cocaine possession was found with five ounces of pot, a quantity police said equates to $2,000 on the street level.
John H. Ward III, 28, of Southampton Village was stopped by the Street Crimes Unit while walking in front of 53 Longneck Blvd. in Flanders “following a brief narcotics investigation,” according to police. He was put under arrest on a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, for a May 1 incident in North Sea during which he fled his vehicle, leaving behind crack cocaine, police said. During Tuesday's arrest the marijuana was discovered, police said.
He was additionally charged with criminal possession of marijuana in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.
