Police: Copper Thieves Target Town Beach Bathrooms
Sections of pipe missing at Flying Point and Sagg Main.
Copper thieves have swiped pipe from the plumbing at two Southampton Town beaches, town police said.
Approximately 10 feet of copper pipe were cut off and removed from underneath the bathrooms in Water Mill and 70-feet were removed from the pavilion in Sagaponack, according to the incident reports.
A Southampton Town Parks and Recreation Department employee reported the thefts Tuesday. He said, judging by the rust, the pipes at Flying Point Beach were stolen months ago. The pipes at adjacent beaches were reported in tact.
