Police: Southampton Man Arrested for DWI Following a Pursuit

Southampton Town Police have charged a Southampton man with DWI, a felony, (the charge was elevated due to a prior DWI conviction,) reckless driving, a misdemeanor, unlawful fleeing from a police officer, a misdemeanor and multiple traffic infractions.

On Saturday, June 14, 2014 at about 9:48 p.m. on Majors Path/Raynor Road in Southampton, John J. Marcincuk, 52, was observed driving erratically and when police attempted to stop him he led them on a pursuit from Raynor Road and North Sea Road to Majors Path.

During the pursuit Marcincuk was involved in two minor accidents, one hitting a mailbox and a landscape rock on Raynor Road and the second striking another landscape rock, some shrubbery and a tree at the arrest location. There were no injuries at either accident.

Marcincuk was arrested, taken to police headquarters for processing and held for morning arraignment.
