Motorcyclist Airlifted After Crash Near Stony Brook Southampton

Injuries are serious but not life threatening, police say.

Update Wednesday 12:30 p.m. - Southampton Fire Department also responded to the scene, with two trucks, to assist in the landing of the medevac helicopter, according to Second Assistant Chief Chris Brenner. Southampton Volunteer Ambulance treated the patient prior to the airlift.

A Suffolk medevac helicopter was called to Shinnecock Hills Tuesday night to airlift a victim of a crash on Montauk Highway near Stony Brook Southampton, according to police.

New York State police said the victim was driving a motorcycle that was involved in an accident with a second vehicle around 10 p.m.

While the motorcyclist's injuries were serious, they were not life threatening, according to police, who said the victim was brought to Stony Brook University Hospital.
