Man Found Drowned in Water Mill Pool

Southampton Village man's death is under investigation.

A man was found Wednesday morning drowned in a pool at a Water Mill home and detectives are investigating the circumstances of his death.

The victim was identified as 30-year-old Lizandro Lopez, of Southampton Village.

Southampton Town police said Monday that they were called around 8 a.m. on June 19 to the Deerfield Road residence, along with North Sea Fire Department and Southampton Volunteer Ambulance. Police and firefighters retrieved the body from the bottom of the pool.

In addition to town detectives, the Suffolk County medical examiner's office is looking into Lopez's death, police said.

Back on May 26, Lopez was arrested by Southampton Village police and charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor. Village police said Lopez, while intoxicated, repeatedly called 911 with no emergency.
