Drugs

• Matthew F. MacGowan, 34, of Manorville, was arrested on drug charges after he was pulled over for talking on his cellphone on Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton on Aug. 16 at about 8:30 a.m. Police said they smelled marijuana coming from his car. A search found a small quantity of marijuana and a cigar case with some oxycodone pills that had not been prescribed to MacGowan. He allegedly told police, "I got those from a friend for when my teeth are bothering me."

Police Clerk Arrested at Headquarters

• A clerk at the Southampton Town Police Department found herself on the wrong side of the bars. Elizabeth R. Rush, 31, of Hampton Bays, allegedly stole "a few hundred dollars" from the petty cash drawer," according to police. She was arrested at police headquarters on Friday morning at about 10:15 a.m. on petty larceny charges.

Drunken Driving Arrests

• Daniel R. Ana, 74, of Bridgehampton, was arrested on a drunken driving charge after police said he came a little to close to a police car that had pulled another vehicle over on Montauk Highway in Sagaponack on Thursday. Ana was driving his 2012 Audi westbound when he failed "to exercise due care to avoid an emergency vehicle" that was in the shoulder with its emergency lights on, according to the arrest report. The officer followed the Audi, which turned onto Sagg Road and tried to speed off. The driver appeared drunk and failed several field sobriety tests, police said. He was charged with failure to yield, in addition to driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

• Julio Barrientos, 44, of East Hampton, was arrested on a DWI charge after police saw him driving a 2012 Toyota Tacoma with no hands on Friday at 6:49 p.m. They said he had a tall yellow can in his left hand a cellphone up to his ear. After pulling him over, they found he had two Coors Light cans — one empty and one half-full — in his truck.

• George H. Chtaih, 42, of Bridgehampton, was arrested on a drunken driving charge on Sunday evening after he allegedly left the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Ocean Road in Bridgehampton at about 5:50 p.m. He was charged with DWI, aggravated unlicensed of a motor vehicle in the first-degree, and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident with property damage. Police did not provide more information about the accident.
