Sag Harbor School Board Hears Drug Dog Pitch

Board considers using drug-sniffing dogs to deter students from bringing drugs to school.

Sag Harbor School District Superintendent John Gratto's to start using Suffolk County Police Department K-9 Unit dogs to sniff out drugs at — and deter students from bringing illegal substances into school in the first place — was officially discussed at a Sag Harbor School Board meeting Monday and board members appear to favor the idea, reports.

The program would cost the school district nothing, but the district would first need to write to all parents informing them of the policy, according to the report.
