Incident Reports: Stolen Motorcycle Dumped in Woods

Also in this week's Southampton Town police logs, a motor was stolen off a boat in North Sea and a trailer was reported stolen from a property in East Quogue.

Crimes and suspicious incidents reported to the Southampton Town Police Department between March 26 and April 1:

Criminal Possession of Stolen Property

• On March 31, a witness said he spotted a man dumping a motorcycle in the woods in Bridgehampton near Town Line Road. Upon investigation police recovered the vehicle and it was removed and impounded by North Sea Tow. Police believe the motorcycle was stolen.

Grand Larceny

• In North Sea on March 29, a man who lives on North Sea Road reported that both the motor and center control console of his Boston Whaler were stolen. The items are worth more than $2,000, the victim said. Whoever took the two items faces charges of grand larceny in the fourth degree and criminal trespassing.

• In East Quogue on March 29, a man told police that someone hauled away from his property his black 2008 Homesteader trailer, worth $3,500. Police are investigating. 

Criminal Mischief

• A Riverside man who lives on Phillips Avenue complained March 22 that someone damaged his car by "keying" it. The man said his car had been parked in his driveway when the damage occurred. The case is active pending further investigation.

• On March 26 in Hampton Bays, a man told police someone graffitied silver paint onto four sections of of his PVC fencing at his residence on Maryland Boulevard. Whoever is responsible faces charges of criminal mischief in the third degree, a class-E felony, making graffiti, a misdemeanor and criminal tampering.

Identity Theft

• A North Haven woman complained to police March 28 that someone recently used her credit card information in order to make two purchases, one in Brooklyn and one over the Internet. According to the police report, the person who made the charges is in possession of a duplicate card.

• In North Haven, on March 29, a man told police that two bank card companies notified him that someone attempted to use his cards to make unauthorized purchases on his Capital One and Visa. He canceled his cards.

Petty Larceny

• In Hampton Bays on March 25 a woman who lives on Kyle Road reported that items from her car trunk were stolen. Missing are several CDs, a pair of eyeglasses and an eyeglass case.

• In Hampton Bays on March 26, a red and white mailbox on Quail Run was stolen. The woman who reported the crime said the mailbox is worth $300. Police have no leads at this time.

• In Hampton Bay on March 31, a woman complained that someone stole $100 in cash from her car while it was parked in her driveway on Fortune Cookie Lane. She also told police that, after she discovered the money was missing, she noticed a smokey smell in the car but she doesn't smoke.

• A tool bag filled with tools estimated to be worth $900 was taken from a van in Flanders that was parked at a residence on Long Neck Road.

Burglary

• In Water Mill on March 29 someone removed half of a locked property gate, a table saw, a framing gun and battery drills. The value of the missing items, said the homeowner, is estimated to be $2,800. Police did not release the name of the street on which the burglary occurred.

• In Remsenburg on March 26, a woman reported that a burglary took place at her property on South Country Road. Taken was a TV, a laptop computer, a Rubbermaid storage shed and a Rubbermaid storage box. The complainant said that, at present, the house is unoccupied.

• In Sag Harbor on March 31, a man who lives on Deerfield Road said someone broke into his house and stole two televisions, two DVD players and a bottle each of Absolute and Ketel One vodka. Police estimated the loss at $2,470 and are investigating the burglary.

Harassment

• In Bridgehampton on March 31, a man who lives on Ocean Road complained that the father of a girl he is dating came to his apartment, punched him several times in the head and threw him into a wall. The victim sustained small cuts to the side of his head. Criminal charges of harassment against the assailant could be forthcoming, police said.

Assault

• A Riverside man told police April 1 that someone punched him in the face on Ludlam Avenue in Riverside, causing him to blackout. The victim said he woke up four hours after the assault in front of his house with injuries to his left ear, lip and head. Police reported negative leads and witnesses related to the incident.
