Incident Reports: Library Patron Exposes Self to Underage Employee

Recent crimes and suspicious incidents reported to the Southampton Town Police Department:

Public Lewdness

• On Sept. 23, the director of the Hampton Bays library reported to police that a patron exposed himself to an underage male employee. An arrest related to the event has not yet been reported. Public lewdness is a class B misdemeanor.

Robbery

• In Flanders Sept. 29, a robbery  was reported by a man who said he was held up at knifepoint by two men in the back seat of a car on Evergreen Road. Taken was $70 in cash. Police are searching for the perpetrators.

Petty Larceny

• On Sept. 26, a Flanders man told police that a handheld orange leaf blower was taken from his front porch at a residence on Flanders Road.

• In East Quogue on Sept. 23, a woman reported that nine light posts were stolen from her yard on Polo Ground Lane.

• A man in Hampton Bays told police Sept. 25 that a number of decorative stalks were taken from his garden on Springville Road.

Burglary

• In Bridgehampton on Sept. 28, a housekeeper reported to police that a Samsung television and MacBook laptop were found to be missing from a home that she cleans on Bridgefield Road. No signs of forced entry into the home were noted. The investigation is continuing.

• A Flanders woman reported a burglary into her home on Wood Road Trail on Sept. 25. The complainant told police that she was asleep in bed With her six month-old child when a man entered the bedroom and demanded money. The intruder, who has not yet been arrested, took $15 in cash, a cellphone charger and a Verizon router.

• In Sagaponack Sept. 24, a man reported a burglary on Sagg Main Street in which numerous tools were stolen from a barn located on the property. Police are looking into the matter.

Criminal Mischief

• A Flanders man told police Sept. 30 that the passenger side window of his car was smashed with a brick by an unknown person. The vehicle was parked at the complainant's driveway on Point Road.

• In Southampton on Sept. 24, a woman who lives in an apartment on Montauk Highway said she became involved in an argument with a man after he threw out some of the toothpaste that she had purchased. According to the police report, the woman reported that she was pushed against a wall and a coffee mug was thrown at her. While there were no arrests related to the event, Southampton Town code enforcement officers responded to the scene for numerous living condition violations at the home.

• In Riverside on Sept. 24, a woman reported that someone sprayed black paint on her car and put sugar into her vehicle's gas tank. Police are investigating. 

• Members of the Southampton Town Superior Officers Association reported on Sept. 26 that someone damaged a fundraiser sign that had been posted on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays. The sign advertised a comedy night that was held at Hampton Bays High School Sept. 29.

Harassment

• A Hampton Bays woman complained Sept. 28 that her neighbor on Ludlow Lane has been harassing her by making animal noises in her direction when she arrives home. If charged, the man faces a count of second-degree harassment.

• In East Quogue Sept. 27, a man told police that another man threatened to kill him when he drove by in a truck at a location on Montauk Highway.second-degree harassment is a misdemeanor. No charges yet have been filed.

• In Bridgehampton Sept. 26, a business owner reported that a fired employee has been making threats by phone to the manager. If charged, the employee faces an arrest on aggravated harassment.
