Incident Reports: $17K Stolen From Bank Account

Recent crimes and suspicious incidents recently reported to the Southampton Town Police Department:

Grand Larceny

• A North Haven woman told police Sept. 19 that someone has been withdrawing money from her bank account using her debit card and pin number. She said a total of $16,823 has been removed from her account, dating back to a withdrawal in February.

• In Sag Harbor on Sept. 15, a man reported to police that about $1,600 worth of camera equipment was taken from his home on Brick Kiln Road. A Canon camera, lens and carry bag are missing, he said.

• A shopper at Kmart in Bridgehampton reported that her wallet was removed from her pocketbook while she was in the store Sept. 22. The Louis Vuitton wallet, she said, contained 10 assorted credit cards and her driver's license. Police and store management are reviewing Kmart’s surveillance video.

• In Riverside on Sept. 21, a woman said various credit and ID cards were taken from her unlocked vehicle that was parked on Flanders Road.

Burglary

• An East Quogue woman told police Sept. 14 that $420 in cash and a graphing calculator are missing from her home on Central Avenue. No signs of forced entry into the house were noted.

• A number of tools were taken from a home on Summit Avenue in Westhampton, reported the homeowner on Sept. 22. According to police, the items were taken from the man’s garage.

Harassment

• At a construction site in Sagaponack Sept. 17, a Water Mill man who was working at the site on Townline Road reported that another man confronted him and attacked him. Police are investigating.

• In Riverside Sept. 16, an argument over money led to an altercation at a residence on Moynard Road in Riverside. A male complainant told police that another man pushed him when he asked for money owed.

Petty Larceny

• A green trailer worth about $500 was taken, said a Speonk man, from his property on Old Country Road Sept. 20.

• A teen who was shopping at the King Kullen Sept. 17 told police his laptop was stolen from his vehicle in Hampton Bays while he was in the store. The case is being investigated.

• A USPS package containing a saxophone was reported stolen Sept. 21 from the front porch of a home in Hampton Bays on Oak Lane. Police said there are no leads into the theft at this time.

• In Riverside on Sept. 20, a man reported to police that a GPS, laptop bag, knee brace and street maps were stolen from his car that had been parked on Flanders Road at the time of the theft.

• A North Sea woman reported Sept. 22 that a tree swing in her backyard was taken. The woman, who lives on Towd Point Road, told police that the missing swing was shaped like a buoy.

• In Water Mill Sept. 21, an employee of Warren’s Nursery told police that $278 was stolen from the cash drawer. No arrests related to the theft were reported.

Criminal Mischief

• Police are investigating damage to property in Southampton that occurred Sept. 23 at a development on St. Andrews Circle. According to the complainant, the operator of a black Jeep Wrangler drove his car over the grass in the common area, damaging the lawn.

• On Sept. 23, a Westhampton woman complained that someone threw a brick through the rear left window of her car that was parked in her driveway on McCord Street. According to police, the damage may be related to an ongoing personal dispute.

Issuing a Bad Check

• The owner of a liquor store in Speonk reported Sept. 24 that a customer wrote a check in the amount of $666.78 that subsequently bounced. The check was written to pay for six bottles of Ciroc vodka and 10 bottles of Hennessey cognac. Police are investigating the matter.

• A Quogue man told police Sept. 19 that he was issued a bad check by a man in Georgia who bought his car through Craigslist.

Assault

• A Riverside man told police that several individuals who were visiting his roommate Sept. 23 at a home on Old Quogue Road attacked him and hit him with a bottle. The victim was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment. Police said that the perpetrators responsible for the attack face two charges of felony assault.
