Incident Reports: Multiple Burglaries, Larcenies

And from Flanders to North Sea, multiple cases of mischief reported.

incident reports for March 19 to 26:

Burglary

• A woman in Bridgehampton who lives on Hildreth Avenue reported March 17 that someone stole two flat-screen TVs, a laptop computer, and 14-carat gold jewelry charms from her home while she was away. Police estimate the value of the missing items at $1,650.

• In Hampton Bays on March 22, a man on Bay Avenue East reported that someone broke two glass windows at his residence in the middle of the night and attempted to gain access into the home by putting a bench up against the window. Police are investigating the burglary.

• A woman who lives on Shady Rest Drive in Noyac told police March 20 that her collection of silverware is missing. She said the silverware had been previously stored on top of her refrigerator.

• In Southampton on March 25, a burglary was reported at a home on Seven Ponds Towd Road. Police said a central vacuum in the home was taken from the basement. The victim reported that she was away from March 6 to March 23. No forced entry to the home was observed.

• In North Sea March 21, a burglary was reported on Fish Cove Road where a quantity of copper piping was stolen. The house is currently vacant. Police said the theft occurred sometime in the past two months.

Grand Larceny

• A new residential construction project on Oliver's Cove Lane in Water Mill was the target of thieves March 23, according to an incident report. Police reported that someone removed 50 bundles of wooden shingles worth $3,000.

• A Southampton man and his wife reported March 22 that a Raypack pool heater worth $3,800 is missing from their residence on Old Fish Cove Road in Southampton.

• In Water Mill on March 23, a homeowner complained to police that someone removed the internal parts of a Rheem pool heater from his home on Strongs Lane. The man said the person responsible destroyed the exterior of the unit by cutting its wires. Damage is in the amount of $4,000.  

Graffiti

• A Bridgehampton woman complained March 18 that someone sprayed painted graffiti on the ground and trees of her property on Toppings Path. Police reported negative leads or suspects at this time.

Petty Larceny

• An Eastport woman told police March 21 that someone stole a quantity of small bills from her car as well as a gold Cartier watch. The car was parked on Andy's Lane at the time of the theft.

• Several items were taken from a vehicle that was parked on Indian Road in North Sea on March 17. The victim of the theft told police eyeglasses and several CDs were taken.

Criminal Mischief

• A Southampton woman who lives on Hilltop Road told police March 21 that someone placed a quantity of feces inside her mailbox and lit it on fire, causing damage to the mailbox and its post. The responded and investigated the suspected arson and reported a large burn pattern around the base of the mailbox. Fire officials said an accelerant was possibly used.

• In East Quogue on March 24, a man who lives on Fox Hollow Drive said an unknown person sprayed a brick column and sign on his property with yellow paint, causing about $200 in damage.

• A North Sea fire chief reported March 22 that someone in a car drove over , ripping up the grass and damaging it. The field is located on Noyac Road.

• In Southampton on North Sea-Mecox Road last week, someone stole a house number sign with black letters worth about $100, said the home's owner.

• A woman described as "highly intoxicated" was accused March 24 of stealing items from the Rite Aid store located on East Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays. The store's manager said she confronted the woman outside the store and the items were returned. No arrests related to the incident were made.

• A Flanders man complained to police March 23 that someone wrote the word "Slave" on a stop sign near his house with a black paint marker. If caught, the person responsible could face a charge of criminal mischief fourth degree and making graffiti.

• In Sag Harbor on March 18, a woman reported that a dozen bagels worth $4.80 were stolen from her vehicle that had been parked on Crescent Street.

Identity Theft

• A Southampton man who lives on Warfield Way told police last week that he noticed four unauthorized charges on his Visa card, including a $660 purchase from Bose, $445.57 at Dell, and $424.87 at Walmart. All of the purchases were made on the Internet. There are no leads or suspects at this time.
