Incident Report: Man Seen Masturbating by the Beach

Also this week, a man was reportedly punched in the mouth by a woman he didn't know.

Crimes and suspicious incidents recently reported to the Southampton Town Police Department east of the Shinnecock Canal.

• A Miller Place woman was walking along North Sea Road around 12:30 p.m. on May 31 when she said someone backed into her and sped off. According to police reports, the woman said the driver of a white Suburban hit her in the lower leg/knee area, and minor pain was reported, though the driver continued northbound on North Sea Road.   

• A Flying Point Road resident reported that between May 18 and May 31, someone entered her unlocked car and removed three dollar bills, and change, from her car’s change tray – as well as the ashtray itself. 

• A Southampton man reported that he was punched in the mouth by a stranger while he was dancing at a house party.  

According to police reports, the man said he was dancing at a party on North Sea-Mecox Road around 11 p.m. on May 26, when a female he didn’t know punched him, and soon thereafter left the party.  

• A Noyac resident reported on May 26 that someone had popped the hood on his car and wedged a nail into the negative terminal of his battery, preventing his car from running.

• A woman was walking on Flying Point Beach on May 28 with her friend when she said she saw a man masturbating by the dunes near the parking lot around 9:50 a.m.  

Police reports state that when they saw him, he “raised his harms and swung his body back and forth as to say ‘look at me.’”
