Incident Reports: Rash of TV Thefts

Also recently reported to Southampton Town police, a Flanders woman reports a fraudulent charge from a non-existent law firm, and a watch stolen during a party in Hampton Bays.

Recent crimes and suspicious incidents reported to the Southampton Town Police Department:

Burglary

• A flat-screen TV worth $3,000 was reported stolen from a home in Westhampton Oct. 10. The owner of the property on Sandpiper Court said the TV was taken from the living room.

• A Toyota SUV, a Toshiba television and Sony TV were reportedly taken Oct. 11 from a Westhampton home on Nidzyn Avenue. The first floor window of the home was broken, said police.

• In Westhampton Oct. 10, a man who lives on Sandpiper Court told police that a flat-screen Vizio TV was stolen from his home. Cops determined that entry into the home was made via a front bedroom window.

• In Westhampton Oct. 10, a Samsung flat-screen television was reported stolen from a home on Brushy Neck Lane. Police say the point of entry into the home was a rear glass door.

• A Hampton Bays woman reported to police Oct. 13 that several jewelry items were stolen from her bedroom. A gold Movado watch, a gold bracelet, a necklace and earrings were taken, she said, from her home on West Montauk Highway. 

Grand Larceny

• A Flanders woman complained to police Oct. 14 that $1,935.39 was charged to her credit card by a Pennsylvania law firm that apparently doesn’t exist. Investigators advised the woman to change her credit card information in order to avoid further charges and are looking into the matter.

• On Oct. 9, a Bronx man complained to police that during a party at a home on Argonne Street in Hampton Bays, a Tag Heuer watch worth $2,275 was stolen from him.

• A black pick-up truck was reported missing from a home on Washington Avenue in Hampton Bays Oct. 12.  The complainant told police that he left the keys in the vehicle that was parked in front of the residence. 

• A woman reported Oct. 13 that several lounge chairs and outdoor furniture pieces were taken from her Southampton property on Spring Pond Lane. The homeowner said the missing items are worth approximataely $4,000.

• In Southampton Oct. 12, a woman told police that her wallet was stolen out of her car overnight. The vehicle, she said, that had been parked in her home’s driveway on Big Fresh Pond Road, was unlocked. The Chanel designer wallet worth $1,100 contained $250 in cash and had numerous credit and debit cards within.  

Criminal Mischief

• A Hampton Bays man who lives on Rampasture Road reported that an unknown person poured 40 gallons of water into his oil tank on his property. Police are looking into the matter.

Petty Larceny

• In Flanders Oct. 13, a man who lives on Pine Avenue said someone removed a metal latch from his gate. The value of the latch is estimated to be $15.

• A Flanders woman who left her unlocked Ford Explorer parked at the Express Muffler and Lube on County Road 104 in Riverside Oct. 13 told police that a radio, amplifier and stereo equalizer were stolen from her vehicle. The owner of the business told the woman that her will replace the equipment.

• In Speonk Oct. 11, a man reported that several items were taken out of his vehicle that was parked at the Suffolk Community College parking lot. Taken from the car was a skateboard, a culinary knife set and two textbooks. 

• A white iPhone 4S was reported stolen Oct. 6 during the San Gennaro festival in Hampton Bays.
