Kmart Employee Charged With Felony Theft

Cowan Gumbs faces grand larceny charge.

A 21-year-old employee of the store in Bridgehampton, Cowan Gumbs, was arrested April 21 by and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a class-E felony.

Cops said Gumbs, a resident of Bridgehampton, stole more than $1,800 worth of merchandise from the store over the course of several months.

Gumbs was processed at police headquarters in Hampton Bays and later released on bail. He is scheduled to appear in in May.

In New York State, a class-E felony is punishable by up to four years in prison.
