A hazard materials investigation at the Marine Science Research Center has ended after seven hours.
The all-clear was given shortly before 10:30 a.m.
Hazmat teams were called to the campus after two Stony Brook University police officers were overwhelmed by fumes at the research center. Southampton Fire Department spokesman Capt. Chris Brenner said the source of the unidentified fumes has not been found and the investigation continues, but the scene is determined to be safe.
