Former Bridgehampton Resident Shot Dead in Flanders Home Invasion

Police are investigating the death of Demitri Hampton.

Demitri Hampton, a 21-year-old former Bridgehampton resident, died Sunday after being shot in the chest at his Flanders home, according to police.

A 911 caller told police predawn on Sunday that armed men broke into the house at 200 Priscilla Avenue and shot a man, according to Suffolk County police.

Southampton Town police arrived at the home and found Hampton fatally wounded, Suffolk police said. Hampton was pronounced dead at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating and asking for anyone with information to call 631-852-6392 or 1-800-220-TIPS, if they wish to remain anonymous.

Hampton was formerly a member of a youth choir at Bridgehampton's First Church of God in Christ.

Cuomo's gun control laws working well, I see. If Dimitri had been armed, maybe the bad guys would have paid for their home invasion instead of the resident. Get ready for more of this as state government goes after lawful firearms thereby leaving citizens defenseless.

No need for self protection on the East End ---just call 911.

DrTeaparty, firstly, the legislation has not yet been enacted - secondly, please show me line and verse exactly where in the legislation does it say that a home owner is not allowed to own a handgun or rifle for protection? Typical of the right-wing extremist, reactionary bs that overwhelms SH Patch and the discussion on gun control

The police don't stop crimes, they just collect evidence. Maybe offer the number of a good cleaning service to get those pesky bloodstains out.
