Firefighter Treated for Smoke Inhalation After Bay Point Bedroom Fire

Sag Harbor, East Hampton, North Sea and Bridgehampton fire departments mobilize for fire at 21 Harbor Drive.

12:22 p.m.

A fire started in a bedroom of a ranch home at 21 Harbor Drive Monday morning, but was quickly put out, according to Sag Harbor Fire Chief Pete Garypie.

One firefighter was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and released, the chief said. The home was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported, he said.

Garypie said the fire was reported at 10:33 a.m. and within five minutes of arrival the flames were "knocked down," though firefighters remained on scene for close to two hours.

The damage was contained to the bedroom, he said, and a Southampton Town fire marshal is on scene investigating the cause of the fire.
