A driver was extricated from a car with non-life threatening injuries after being involved in a two-car accident at Montauk Highway and Scuttle Hole Road in Water Mill Saturday morning, according to authorities.
Capt. Chris Brenner said the was called in at 8:07 a.m. "Units arrived on scene and had to extricate a subject from one vehicle by popping the door," he said.
Montauk Highway was closed from Hayground Road in Bridgehampton to just west of the accident scene for 45 minutes, Brenner said. He noted that road conditions were hazardous at the time due to snow. First Assistant Chief Dennis Roy was the chief in charge.
Sgt. Scott Foster said two vehicles were involved in the crash but information on the drivers and circumstances were not immediately available.
Sgt. Foster said town police responded to 10 accidents by 1 p.m. Saturday, mostly fenders benders and rollovers, but with no one seriously injured.
One accident, involving a tractor trailer and a car at Montauk Highway in Water Mill at , caused the road's closure for about an hour, he said.
