DWI Charged After Head-on County Road 39 Crash

Hampton Bays man also charged with reckless driving.

A Hampton Bays man involved in a pre-dawn head-on collision in Southampton July 10 now faces charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated and reckless driving, according to police.

Southampton Town police said 38-year-old Troy M. Slovensky was driving westbound on County Road 39 at 4:34 a.m. on July 10 when the crash occurred, in which his Jeep flipped over and caught fire.

He was transported via ambulance to following the collision and police released him on a field appearance ticket, according to the arrest report.

The two occupants of the second vehicle were treated and released at Southampton Hospital for minor injuries.

Slovensky was booked when he returned to police headquarters July 16 for fingerprinting and a photograph, police said.

He was also cited with charges of speeding and moving from lane unsafely, both traffic infractions, and refusing a breath screening test, police said.

Slovensky is due to appear in court Aug 1.
