Crimes Nearby: Thief Swipes $22K from Amagansett Business Owner

Also: Two drivers facing felony driving while intoxicated charges.

North Fork

• A Riverhead woman is facing a felony charge after Southold Town police said she drove drunk on Route 48 in Mattituck Saturday. Jamie L. Walsh, 29, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated at 10:16 p.m.

East Hampton 

• Scot W. Edler, 34, of Orangeburg, NY, was arrested on a felony driving while intoxicated charge on July 1 in Amagansett. Police said they saw him going 50 mph in a 30 mph zone on Main Street, near Miankoma Lane, at about 12:50 a.m. Before police could activate their lights and sirens, Elder pulled over to the right shoulder without signaling. He appeared drunk and performed poorly on sobriety tests, police said. After he was placed under arrest, police discovered he was previously convicted of a DWI in Clarke's Town Court in New York. His vehicle was impounded. His arraignment information was not immediately available.

• An Amagansett business owner reported $22,700 stolen from his house while he was sleeping on the night of June 23 and the morning of June 24. He woke up around 4:30 a.m. and noticed the bags the money were in were missing from his bedroom. Detectives are investigating.
