The following information was supplied by police departments on the East End. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.
Recent crimes and arrests reported elsewhere on the East End:
• East Hampton Town police announced on Wednesday morning that there is a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in the hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian in Amagansett on Tuesday night.
• Trever Jackson, 18, of Flanders, was charged with felony assault on Oct. 19 in Flanders at 11:10 p.m. According to police, Jackson was involved in a domestic dispute on Brookhaven Avenue during which he hit another man in the head with a 25-pound dumbbell.
• Southold Town Democratic Committee Chairman Arthur Tillman said that the committee is offering $1,000 to anyone who can tell Southold Town police who is responsible for the vandalization of the car of Democratic committee woman Sally Kahn. Kahn reported to police on Oct. 23 that someone had vandalized her Honda Accord with black spray paint, covering up Obama and Bishop political bumper stickers. The car was parked in her driveway on North Bayview Road while she was away from home Sunday and Monday, when she told police she believes the vandalism occurred. • Curtis L. Trent, 22, of Riverhead, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and resisting arrest on Oct. 17 at 8:53 p.m. after Southold Town Police stopped him for traffic violations at the intersection of Eugenes Road and Beebe Drive in Cutchogue, police said. Trent became combative, fighting with the officers at the scene until he was subdued and placed under arrest, police said. Further investigation revealed that Trent was in possession of marijuana. He was arrested and transported to Southold Town Police headquarters in Peconic for processing and held for arraignment.
• Kevin A. Kani, 32, of Hicksville, was charged with DWI drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana on Oct. 17 at 1:47 p.m., after police stopped him for a traffic violation on Route 48 in Mattituck and further investigation revealed that he was impaired by drugs and in possession of marijuana, police said. The defendant was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held for arraignment.
• Kelly Walters, 25, of Sayville, was charged with grand larceny, a felony, after she was detained Oct. 15 at the Stop & Shop store on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays at 7:00 p.m. Police say store security claim Walters fraudulently altered customer refunds for cash in the amount of $1,300.
• Dequan Clairborne, 20, of East Quogue, was charged with felony grand larceny on Oct. 15 after he was detained by Stop & Shop security at the Hampton Bays supermarket on Montauk Highway. Claiborne was charged at 7 p.m. Police said Clairborne stole more than $1,000 from the store.
