Crimes Nearby: Montauk Bouncer Charged with Strangulation

The following information was supplied by the East End police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.
EAST HAMPTON
Andreas E. Gemellas, 24, of Key West, Fla., a bouncer at the Sloppy Tuna in Montauk, was arrested and charged with a felony after he reportedly strangled a patron he was removing from the bar and restaurant on Sept. 1.

Police said they were called to the Sloppy Tuna for a victim of violence and found a 27-year-old man from Yonkers, who was missing a front tooth, and had cuts and scrapes on his forehead and nose. The alleged victim told them he had been escorted off the property by a bouncer.
Gemellas told police that the man had tried to cut the line and get into the bar. but was told he had to wait. The man slipped past him, and Gemellas later escorted him out. He told police he had no intention of hurting the man, police said in a report.

WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS
A resident on Felix Avenue in Remsenburg reported that someone had stolen 18 exterior landscape lights from his front yard on Aug. 31. Police were called to the home at around 10:45 a.m. The victim noted that whoever stole the copper light fixtures had cut the wiring that connected them in multiple places and then ripped the fixtures out of the ground. The light fixtures were of undetermined value, but the victim estimated it would cost roughly $3,000 to replace the lights and re-bury the snipped electric lines.
Someone reportedly broke into a man’s jeep while he was at Road K beach in Hampton Bays on Aug. 27 and stole his GPS. According to police, who received the call at around 4:15 p.m., the victim had parked on Road K and was spending time at the beach. When he returned he noticed the rear passenger window had been smashed with a rock or some other object and his Garmin GPS was missing. The GPS was valued at $250. The investigation is ongoing.
Police responded to a burglary on Head of Cove Road in Hampton Bays on Aug. 25. According to police the victim claimed that at some point between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. someone had entered their home and stole a $2,000 wedding band and $2,000 in cash from a pocketbook.
