Crimes Nearby: Homeless Teen Arrested After Shooting

Also on the East End: East Hampton man held on $70K bail after assault charge; fisherman accused of slashing tires over turf war.

Editor's Note: The following information was supplied by various town police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.

RIVERHEAD

• A homeless 17-year-old was arrested after a shooting on Raynor Avenue in Riverhead on Monday night, police said.

According to Riverhead police, officers responded at 8:20 p.m. to Raynor Avenue, where an alleged assault was in progress. Upon arrival, police found a 52-year-old woman had been shot. Police said her injuries weren’t life-threatening.

Police said the teen ran from the scene and was tracked to an Osborn Avenue residence with the help of a Riverhead police K-9 unit.

• A man with a gunshot wound to the foot told police he'd been a robbery victim, but later changed his tune, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, a 24-year-old Riverside man was arrested at police headquarters in Hampton Bays and charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree, a misdemeanor, on May 15 at 2:15 p.m.

EAST HAMPTON

• Brian E. Castillo, 33, of East Hampton, is being held on $70,000 cash or $140,000 bond at the Suffolk County jail in Riverside following his arrest on May 18.

At about 6:10 p.m., police were called to 351 Pantigo Rd. in East Hampton, where they said they found Castillo assaulting a victim, whom police did not identify. Police advised him to stop and that he was under arrest. Castillo "advanced towards Sgt. [Joseph] Kearney and swung at him with a closed fist," the arrest report stated. The sergeant wrestled Castillo to the ground and two officers assisted in handcuffing him.

While en route to headquarters, Castillo reportedly continuously kicked the back passenger window of the police car, causing damage to the window and the door.

Once in custody, police discovered an order of protection in place since February, ordering Castillo to stay-away from the victim.

Castillo was charged with criminal contempt in the first degree and second-degree assault, both felonies, as well as resisting arrest and fourth-degree criminal mischief, both misdemeanors.

• Andre L. Chamblin, 32, of Manchester, New Hampshire, was driving without a license and under the influence, according to police. Chamblin was pulled over on Abraham's Path, near Three Mile Harbor Road, on Monday at about 1:20 a.m., after he failed to dim his high beams, they said.

Officers reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from his car, and he appeared to have bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech and a sluggish demeanor.

A check of his driving record revealed his license was suspended in April for failure to answer a summons in Manhattan and in October 2012 for failure to pay driver's responsibility assessment. Taken into custody, Chamblin reportedly agreed to a blood test, and his blood was drawn at about 3 a.m.

Chamblin was charged with a felony count of driving while ability impaired by drugs or alcohol due to a prior conviction in Southampton Town Justice Court in 2008. He was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

His vehicle was also impounded under the Suffolk County Seizure Law. During a search, police found a clear bag containing a green leafy substance between the front seats, which later tested positive for marijuana.

WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS

• A turf war over horseshoe crabs led to the arrest of a Flanders fisherman on Sunday.

Southampton Town police charged John Lombardi, 60, with felony criminal mischief after police said he slashed the tires of two fellow commercial fishermen's cars.

According to police, the two victims hid in the bushes on Sunday, near the Point Road boat ramp in Flanders, and saw Lombardi use a knife to slash their tires at about 7:30 p.m. Police said the fishermen, a Flanders man and a Hampton Bays man, confronted Lombardi and kept him at the scene until police arrived.
