Suffolk County Criminal Court Judge William Condon sentenced him to 2 to 6 years in state prison. The 31-year-old man can expect to serve about 5 of those years due to his prior felony conviction.

"He begged me repeatedly to turn myself in," Orr said of his attorney, Gordon Ryan, who represented him at the proceeding in Suffolk County Criminal Court. "You already made a big mistake, don't make it any worse," was the counseling Orr said he received.

• A search warrant led to a drug bust in Wading River on Wednesday, police said. According to Riverhead Town police, ongoing complaints from residents of the Wading River community led to an investigation by the East End Drug Task Force, in conjunction with the Suffolk County Emergency Services Unit, Riverhead Town C.O.P.E and K-9 units.

Police said the search at 49 Overhill Rd. led to the recovery of marijuana packaged for sale, cash and weapons, including a .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol, a .22 caliber assault rifle, a billy club and brass knuckles. Also recovered were scales and packaging materials, police said.

Police arrested three residents of the address, including a 55-year-old man who was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation; he was released on an appearance ticket. The suspect was reported to have fled the scene along with another subject in a Hampton Town Taxi.  Patrol officers located the taxi a short while later on Flanders Road in Riverside when the taxi driver attempted to leave the area, police said.
