Crimes Nearby: Brooklyn Driver Had Stolen Florida Plates

A round-up of recent notable arrests from other areas on the East End:

WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS

Richard Galli, 45, of Brooklyn was arrested Saturday at 8:28 a.m. at the corner of Montauk Highway West and Ponquogue Avenue in Hampton Bays and charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor. Galli was stopped for a traffic violation when police discovered he had stolen Florida license plates on his car, police said.

Two Westhampton residents told Southampton Town Police that a young teenager damaged their personal property with a baseball bat Saturday evening before 6 p.m. A 37-year-old woman who lives on Hamilton Avenue in Westhampton told Southampton Town police that on Saturday at around 5:52 p.m., a male teenager hit the back of her car with a baseball bat and damaged a tail lamp. The woman told police the boy ran away toward McCord Street, but he was gone before police arrived. On the same day and time, a 50-year-old Hamilton Avenue man told police that a young male teenager also hit his mailbox and driveway lamp with a baseball bat. Police interviewed a woman at a home on McCord Street to where the boy was seen running. The woman told police a boy fitting their description had visited her home. Police are continuing to investigate.

Elder Guerra, 33, of Hempstead was arrested Saturday at 12:52 a.m. on the corner of County Road 31 and Stewart Avenue in Westhampton and charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony, and false personation and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors. Guerra was stopped for a traffic violation when police discovered he provided a false name to officers. Police said that Guerra, whose license was suspended following a 2010 DWI, appeared intoxicated, but his blood alcohol content did not meet requirements for a DWI charge.

Jennifer Nappi, 42, of Hampton Bays was arrested Saturday at 8:50 p.m. at St. Rosalie’s Roman Catholic Church and charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation. Police responded to the church to check on Nappi’s well-being at the request of a friend, but she appeared intoxicated, according to police. Nappi yelled and pushed officers, and threatened to injure them, police said.

A 64-year-old man from Westhampton told Southampton Town police that sometime between Sept. 25 and Friday at 11 p.m. someone stole a $2,000 black steel urn from outside of the service gate at his home on Apaucuck Cove Lane in Westhampton. Police are investigating, but the homeowner declined to give officers a list of contractors who maintain the property, stating that they are trustworthy and not involved.

EAST HAMPTON

Nil Erbil, 36, of Montauk, was arrested on DWI charges on Oct. 16. According to police reports, Erbil was observed rolling through a stop sign and was pulled over in the parking lot of the Montauk 7-Eleven soon after. Police reported that she had a smell of alcohol on her breath upon approaching her, and proceeded to fail a field sobriety test. Police said she was arrested and transported to headquarters, where she reportedly blew a 0.12 percent blood alcohol level. She was held for morning arraignment.

Cesar Criollo, 39, of East Hampton, was arrested on Oct. 16 on charges of driving without an interlock device and aggravate unlicensed operation in the second degree. Police said Criollo was pulled over near the intersection of Cedar Street and Hands Creek Road for failing to maintain his lane of travel. Police reported that upon investigation, it was found that Criollo's license was revoked for a conviction of DWI with a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent or higher. He was released on $250 bail and given an appearance ticket.

Sara Palma-Ricardo, 31, of Kent, Wash. was arrested on Oct. 12 on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree. According to police reports, Palma-Ricardo was driving south on Route 114 near Montauk Boulevard when she reported seeing a white pickup truck cross over the double yellow line. She reported swerving to avoid hitting the car and subsequently turned onto its drivers' side and hit a tree. Palma-Ricardo, whose two children were also in the car, was arrested after police said they found that her license had been suspended six times on four separate occasions. She was processed, given an appearance ticket, and released on $100 bail.

RIVERHEAD

The former manager of a Northampton group home for developmentally disabled people was charged with petty larceny for allegedly stealing money from her wards, Southampton Town Police said. Police said Nicole Leggon, 28, of Riverhead pocketed about $400 in cash from the residents of the Aid to the Developmentally Disabled home in Northampton between June 1 and Sept. 1. She was the house manager at the time, but is now unemployed, according to her arrest report. Leggon was arrested and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor, on Friday at 4:44 p.m. at police headquarters in Hampton Bays. The residents of the home were reimbursed for the losses, police said.

A Flanders man was arrested by Southampton Town police and charged with numerous drug-related violations after police allegedly found he was carrying a quantity of drugs including PCP, heroin, marijuana and both crack and powered cocaine, on Saturday morning. Natia Yisrael, 36, was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation on Flanders Road in Riverside at 12:46 a.m, according to a police report. Police found he was carrying various illegal drugs and arrested him, police said. Yisrael was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.

A Riverhead man was charged with drunk driving on Sunday after police said he crashed head-on into another car on Montauk Highway, sending both drivers to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Jose Carabantes, 25, was arrested by on Sunday at about 10:35 p.m. in Water Mill and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and driving without a license and failure to maintain lane, both infractions. Police said Carabantes was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi eastbound on Montauk Highway when he crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a 1989 Chevrolet pickup. and the Ambulance Company responded to the crash and transported both drivers to for non-life threatening injuries, according to police. Because of his injuries, Carabantes was released at the hospital on an appearance ticket, pending future legal action, police said.

NORTH FORK

Brian Evans, 59, of Cutchogue was arrested for driving while intoxicated and impaired by drugs on Thursday at 12:06 a.m. after police saw him fail to stop at a stop sign and attempt to make a U-turn at the intersection of Route 25 and Alvah's Lane in Cutchogue and drive over a lawn, police said. Evans did not stop for the officer trying to pull him over until he pulled into his driveway at Alvah's Lane, police said.

Allissa Goodale, 21, of Mattituck was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of marijuana on Sunday at 3:15 a.m., after police stopped her for speeding on Route 48 near Alvah's Lane in Cutchogue, police reported. Goodale had been heading west in a 1995 Chrysler on Route 48. During processing at police headquarters, a small amount of marijuana was also found in her possession, police said.

Katie Wood, 29, of Riverhead was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property on Sunday at 8 p.m., after police investigated a claim from a 49-year-old Greenport woman that her Medicaid card had been stolen, police said. Further investigation revealed that Wood was in possession of the card, police said. She was processed and released on cash bail.
