RIVERHEAD 

Riverhead Town Police man on charges of second-degree attempted murder, assault and a slew of weapons charges after a shooting on Thursday night led them to the same suspect in the unrelated last week.

Police said Juan F. Soyos-Pixtun shot a 20-year old Riverhead man with a 9mm semiautomatic handgun Thursday night around 10:21 p.m. near Marcy Avenue and Pulaski Street. Police arrived to find the victim on the ground suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his upper leg, police said.

Police said further investigation revealed Soyos-Pixtun as the shooter in what they said was an unrelated incident last Friday night, when police said downtown outside the on West Main Street at about 10 p.m. He was remanded to Suffolk County Jail and is being held on $500,000 bail.

A grocery store across the street from was robbed at gunpoint by two men with a shotgun on Sunday night, Riverhead Town Police said. The suspects were not apprehended and police are still looking for the alleged robbers, according to a police report of the incident.

Police said they received a call about two suspicious armed men near 726 East Main Street around 10:15 p.m. When police responded, the owner of the nearby Village Grocery at 733 East Main St. told police that he had been robbed by two men with a shotgun who fled east on foot, according to a police report of the incident. The store is located just one block from the .

After searching the area with a K9 unit, police found "proceeds from the robbery" near the railroad tracks southeast of the store, as well as a loaded 12-gauge shotgun hidden under a shed at the apartment complex on 821 East Main St., according to a police report. The two suspects were not found and remain at large, police said.

NORTH FORK

Matthew Larson, 23, of Southold, was rescued from the chilly waters of Southold Bay after he was thrown overboard while testing a new motor on his small boat shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 near in Southold, police said.

Larson had been in the water for about 10 minutes before a passing boater picked him up and took him to Founders Landing, where he was treated and released by members of the Southold Fire Department Rescue Squad, police said.

Chief Martin Flatley identified the driver who hit a brick wall of building on Nov. 15 as Eileen Kiski, 76, of Greenport.

Kiski crashed her 2002 Hyundai into the bank at 10:18 a.m. after she hit the gas in an attempt to leave a parking space, thinking that the car was in reverse, Flatley said. The car lurched forward instead, jumped the curb and hit the building, he said.

Kiski, who said she did not remember what happened, was taken to for a check-up but did not suffer injuries, nor did any passersby or patrons of the bank, Flatley said.

WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS

Rebecca Coleman, 19, of Riverhead, was arrested on Nov. 13 at 2:01 a.m. at the corner of Montauk Highway East and Pawnee Street in Hampton Bays and charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony, and DWI, a misdemeanor. Police stopped Coleman for a traffic violation when they discovered she appeared intoxicated.Her license had been suspended for a prior alcohol-related offense, police said.

Justin Hirsch, 26, of East Patchogue, was arrested Nov. 12 at 1:34 a.m. at the corner of Squiretown Road and Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays and charged with DWI and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors. Hirsch was stopped for a traffic violation near the intersection of Squiretown Road and Montauk Highway when police discovered he appeared intoxicated. Police also saw that Hirsch’s license had been suspended for a DWI conviction in 2007.
