Crash Leads to DWI Arrest in Shinnecock Hills

Driver taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police say.

A man was arrested on drunken driving charges after he crashed his car on North Road in Shinnecock Hills on Thursday morning at about 12:45 a.m., according to police.

Southampton Town police said Christopher E. Fisher, 24, of Southampton, had been speeding when he said he tried to avoid a deer, crashing and then leaving the scene. The Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance took Fisher to Peconic Bay Medical Center for minor injuries. He was released from the hospital and taken to police headquarters.

Fisher was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, refusal to take a pre-screen breath test, unreasonable speed, driving without a seatbelt, and moving from his lane unsafely, which are all violations.
