Lanes reopened at around 8 a.m.

The Wednesday morning commute in Southampton was just getting back up to pace around 8:15, following a head-on accident that closed two lanes on County Road 39.

Southampton Town Police Sgt. John Boden said that the collision occurred at 6:27 a.m., between two cars going in opposite directions on the four-lane highway. One westbound lane and one eastbound lane were closed, he said.

Boden said one passenger was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
