A man suspected in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday night on Montauk Highway in Sagaponack was arrested shortly after the accident, according to police.
said George Strobin, 43, of East Hampton, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with an injury, a misdemeanor.
Sgt. Howard Kalb said the man was driving an SUV eastbound when he struck a sedan that a woman was driving westbound. The front corners of the cars collided and the man kept driving, he said. Bridgehampton ambulance volunteers took the woman to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
The accident was reported at 7:25 p.m., when it was foggy in Sagaponack, and the suspect was found shortly thereafter near the gas station in Wainscott. A utility pole near the westbound lane was also struck during the accident and a LIPA crew responded.
Strobin was additionally charged with traffic infractions, including failure to maintain his lane and failure to keep right, police said. He was released on $250 bail and given an appearance ticket for a later court date.

Correction: An earlier version of the article incorrectly identified the suspect as a Riverhead man. Police said Wednesday the man is from East Hampton.
