Cops: More Than 7K In Air Compressors Stolen From Southampton Homeowner

Also, a fight breaks out in front of popular Bridgehampton restaurant.

The following police incidents were reported by the Town of Southampton Police Department for the week of Dec. 6.

Southampton

  • Someone entered a retired woman's property on Spring Pond Lane and stole five air compressors on Dec. 31. According to police the woman noticed the air compressors were missing and called 911 at around 11:15 a.m. The air compressors totaled $7,300 in value. Police are investigating the incident as a grand larceny.

Bridgehampton

  • A Bridgehampton man reported missing items he said was stolen off a bus he was riding from Manhattan to the East End hamlet on Jan. 4. According to police the man called 911 claiming that on Dec. 27 he got off the bus in Bridgehampton and left his MacBook Air on board. The laptop is valued at around $1,500. The man called police to document the theft for insurance purposes.
  • Police responded to a violent incident outside of the Almond restaurant in Bridgehampton on Jan. 1. According to police a bystander called 911 to report that during a dispute between a man and a woman, a third suspect approached the man and punched him in the face shortly after midnight on New Year’s Eve. The suspect’s name was given to police. Police are investigating the incident as a possible assault.

Water Mill

  • Someone entered a man's property on Head of Pond Road and stole a $600 Colorado Spruce Tree sometime between Dec. 22 and Dec. 28. According to police the owner of the property called 911 at around 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 28 when he noticed that a tree was missing from his nursery. When he got closer to inspect he saw the stump of the spruce tree where it had apparently been cut. Police are investigating the incident as a petty larceny.
