Carcass of Pilot Whale Washes up on Cooper Beach

27 East is reporting What is believed to be the mostly intact remains of a pilot whale washed up on a Southampton Village beach on Sunday.

The carcass of the whale was seen by walkers on Coopers Beach on Sunday afternoon.

Biologists from the Riverhead Foundation were en route to the scene to identify the species and try to determine the cause of death.

The whale carcass is not expected to be removed from the beach until Monday morning.
