Bridgehampton Firefighter Honored for 70 Years of Service

Awards given out at recent inspection dinner.

The Bridgehampton Fire Department held its annual Inspection Dinner at the Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club on Sept. 20, and among the highlights of the evening were honoring firefighters for their dedication to the department.

Connie Kalish, of Bridgehampton, was honored for 70 years of service.

Lawrence Osborn, of Wainscott, was honored for 50 years of service, Billy Mott, of East Hampton, was honored for 30 years of service, and William Lowe was honored for 40 years of service. Thomas Dombkowski, of Sagaponack, Bruce Dombkowski, of Bridgehampton, and Beryl Buchholz, of Bridgehampton, were honored for 35 years of service.

For the first time, there were two people named as EMS Provider of the Year, which is now the Edmund R. Davis EMS Award. Dave Skretch, of Bridgehampton, and Nicholas Hemby, of Water Mill, were the recipients. Both are emergency medical technicians.

Mark Balserus, of Sag Harbor, was Firefighter of the Year. Light & Hose, of which Balserus is captain, was named Company of the Year.

Captain Harry Halsey, of Sagaponack, received the Officer of the Year award.
