Before DWI Arrest in Sag Harbor, Hit-and-Run in Bridgehampton

Police say pickup truck driver left the scene of an accident, and was spotted in Sag Harbor Village.

The following information was supplied by the Sag Harbor Village Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Police said a man who was arrested in Sag Harbor Village on drunken driving charges had been involved in a hit-and-run 15 minutes earlier in Bridgehampton on Oct. 18.

Sag Harbor Village police stopped Howard Dunn, 51, of East Hampton, for reportedly speeding and failing to maintain his lane as he traveled southeast in a Chevrolet pickup truck on Route 114, near Lincoln Street, at about 3:30 a.m. Southampton Town police responded earlier to an accident involving a vehicle with the same description on Scuttlehole Road.

Dunn allegedly admitted to being apart of the accident and having had "at least a dozen beers," according to the police report. Dunn was charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, as his blood alcohol level was reportedly above .18. No word on the charges out of Southampton Town.
