Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery at a Sag Harbor Village store on Tuesday evening.

The robbery was reported at the Corner Closet, a consignment shop on Main Street, at about 6:25 p.m. A gun was reportedly displayed during the robbery, but that could not immediately be confirmed.

Sag Harbor Village, Southampton Town, East Hampton Town, and East Hampton Village police departments responded, soon pulling over a vehicle in a driveway on the corner of the Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike and Huntington Crossway in Bridgehampton.

Two people were reportedly taken into custody, but police were still on the lookout for another vehicle.

Detectives were still on scene in Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor Village at about 7:30 p.m. The State police were also on scene.

The Corner Closet is located at 108 Main Street in the village. It sells vintage Chanel, Hermès, Missoni, Pucci and other resale couture, in addition to handbags and jewelry.

While armed robberies are unusual for the South Fork, this report comes just a week after a robbery at Springs Wines & Liquor in the Springs neighborhood of East Hampton on Nov. 9. Two days later, police arrested John X. Tracy, a 19-year-old from Springs. Police said he threatened to use a handgun, but never displayed one.
