Fire departments in eastern Southampton Town have been activated to respond to a brush fire in Manorville.
and fire departments, and possibly others in the area, are responding. Futher east, the East Hampton, Amagansett, Montauk and Springs fire departments also are responding with tankers and brush trucks.
Black smoke from the brush fire, which is reportedly on the northside of the Brookhaven National Lab, south of Middle Country Road in Manorville, can be seen as far east as Montauk Highway in Wainscott.
Firefighters will be staging at the Suffolk County Fire Academy in Yapank.
Suffolk County is under a fire weather warning until Monday at 8 p.m. The red flag is issued based on the little rain the area has had, how low the humidity is, and how strong the winds are.
