The opened with a . The firehouse replaces the substation that had stood at the same location on Hampton Road. Firefighters sought the new facility because the last substation could barely fit modern firetrucks, which are bigger than the old building was designed for, and it was not up to Occupational Health and Safety Administration standards. The new building also has bunk rooms, which would be needed should the village ever move from a volunteer to paid fire department.
