Nearly a year after a Riverhead woman was struck and killed by a car while she was walking on a summer night, Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and the Riverhead Police Department are asking for the public's help to track down the driver of the stolen vehicle that hit her.

On Tuesday, July 16, 2013, the driver of a 2000 Cadillac Deville was traveling east on County Road 58, near Woodcrest Avenue, when he struck and killed Kristina M. Tfelt, a 26-year-old single mother.  The Cadillac was reported stolen minutes after the crash.

After hitting Tflelt, the Cadillac crashed into a retaining wall and came to rest a few feet away on the sidewalk. The driver of the car and a passenger both fled the scene on foot, authorities have said, heading south on Woodcrest Avenue toward Osborn Avenue.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

Very interesting... In an article dated 07/17/2013 in Suffolk Times states "Investigators believe they know the names of the two men who fled the scene, and that it’s just a matter of time before they’re tracked down, police sources said." I'm guessing the names must be so southern sounding that they are out of reach at the moment - if you know what I mean.... Porous borders are so helpful to hit and run drivers, killers and criminals in general. But as long as Home Land Security / TSA keeps spot checking good looking women for that extra pat-down.... I feel super safe because we all now those are the trouble people. ;-) ;-) Them and those peskier old white ladies in wheel chairs that may conceal a bomb. Man those old ladies scare the crap out of me. América! lo que es un país maravilloso para mí correr salvaje!

"Reported stolen minutes after the crash". How convenient.
