3 More Luxury Cars Stolen in Southampton

In all instances, they keys were left in the cars.

A rash of car thefts continued in Southampton this week as three more reports of stolen cars were made to Southampton Town Police, who are investigating.

On July 30, a New York man reported that his leased 2010 Mercedes was stolen from Dune Road in Bridgehampton sometime between July 29 and 30. He told police that he left his car in the driveway unlocked with the keys in it.

Then, on Aug. 2, police took two more reports.

A 2013 black Land Rover was reported stolen from Farm Field Road Bridgehampton. The owner of the car told police it was taken from the driveway sometime on Aug. 1 and that the doors were locked and the keys were in the ignition.

A Water Mill resident then called police to report that his 2011 black Land Rover was stolen from his driveway on Oliver's Cove Lane sometime between Aug. 1 and 2. He told cops that the keys were left in the car, which was unlocked. A set of golf clubs, valued at $1,000, were also in the vehicle.

The three thefts follow nine other thefts this summer from East Hampton to West Hampton Dunes.

In Southampton Village, police said that a black 2013 Mercedes Benz CL55 was taken from a driveway on Pheasant Close East and in East Hampton, a 2012 Range Rover was stolen on June 29 and a 2013 Mercedes Benz GL4 was taken on July 18.

Another 2013 Mercedes Benz was also taken from a Dune Road driveway in mid-June, around the same time as three other cars — a 2013 Mercedes Benz from Quogue; Porsche from Westhampton Dunes; and a 2013 Mercedes, valued at $93,000, taken from the Ocean Dunes Condos on Dune Road on the evening of July 19.

Three of those cars, however, have since been recovered by New Jersey police.
