Opening Bell at the Farmer's Market

The official opening of the market this morning in East Hampton, marked a significant influx of healthy affordable food in our area. Kate Plumb held up the opening bell as vendors displayed their locally grown vegetables and products. This market offers a great program for those receiving government support as people can exchange their EBT cards for tokens purchasing high quality, organically grown and locally made foods. Mecox Bay Dairy is offering grass fed beef and pork, including bacon this season. According to Art Ludlow, their award winning cheeses will be available at all of the Farmers Markets in the area. Also, local baymen from Merken Fisheries are selling freshly caught fish. One proprietor, Kimberly Loper, has all natural dog treats with her company "Life is Grruff." The Market is located at 136 North Main Street in East Hampton in the Nick and Toni's Parking lot.
