On Monday, news broke that a discussion has started to move the 103-year-old Southampton Hospital to the Stony Brook Southampton campus by building a new 125-bed facility. Officials say the new hospital will not only provide a wonderful training ground for new doctors on the forefront of academic medicine, but will also improve care on the East End of Long Island.

From the point of view of a resident east ender, the closer to me the better given our traffic situation. Having come out of our present Southampton Hospital within the week from a serious unexpected surgery, I have to say I was VERY impressed with the Southampton Hospital of today over the Southampton Hospital of yesteryear on every level. Professional, personal, meticulous. It's come a long way.

I have had nothing but great experiences at Southampton Hospital. I'm grateful for a smaller hospital with fewer patients as opposed to large hospitals up-island and in NYC. More hospital acquired infections, fewer care staff per patient, etc.

I am glad to hear that there are some people that are happy with Southampton Hospital beacuse I was not happy.. If I had a choice I'd pick St.Charles or John T. Mather hospital's. I was very disappointed in the care and service I received in Southampton..
