Question of the Day: Relieved by Debt Ceiling Vote?

Congressional leaders and the president announce Sunday night that impasse is over.

With less than 36 hours to go before the federal government would reportedly hit its borrowing limit, news came Sunday night that Republicans and Democrats have come to an agreement to raise the debt ceiling.

Were you worried about default? Are you relieved that a deal has been reached? Was it the deal you hoped for? Share you thoughts on the debt ceiling in the comments section below.

Not happy. Okay to cut defense spending, but respected economists say this is the wrong time to cut supports for people and jobs. Obama should have stuck to his beliefs and insisted on revenue increase. The tea party nuts got more than they asked for. And we're in for continued dysfunction in DC. UGH!!

This is a horrible deal and Mr Bishop needs to tell Pelosi and company that seniors are going to get whacked by the government. Please VOTE "No" Mr Bishop as it is a very bad deal and will hurt many many of your elderly constituents!

Economists from all sides of the political spectrum say these types of cuts in the middle of a stagnant economy will only do harm. A small group of teaparty terrorists used America's default to force the President to give in to their terms. And he did, much too willingly if you ask me. The big losers in all of this are the same big losers for the last 20 years - the middle class and poor. What we have learned is that reelections trump all reason, that our president is a weak negotiator and that the overwhelming majority of Americans who wanted to see tax cuts were completely ignored to placate a minority group of lunatic teapartiers. The President and his party seem to be suffering from and incurable case of Stockholm Syndrome.

“Given the choice between a Republican and someone who acts like a Republican, people will vote for the real Republican all the time,” said Harry Truman
