Question of the Day: Are Development District Reforms Adequate?

Weigh in on newly adopted legislation.

The Southampton Town Board to planned development districts, a zoning tool that allows greater density on a parcel of land than is allowable by current zoning in exchange for a community benefit.

The reforms were designed to increase the community's input to the PPD approval process and to clarify benefits. The town's list of changes to PDD law is attached to this article.

The changes were much lauded at Tuesday's town board meeting, prior to the adoption of the legislation, which was the product of seven public hearings.
