It had been a mild winter up until Thursday night, when Southampton Town was hit with snow and ice. The result was , many fender-benders and even rollovers. Then a snowstorm hit Saturday blanketing the East End with several inches. tied up traffic, but no serious injuries have been reported in recent days.
Now that the worst is over, the lingering affects are piles of snow that could cause flooding, black ice on the roads from melting and refreezing snow, and some roads waiting to be plowed.
Are the streets in your neighborhood clear? Have the plowtrucks come? Which municipality is responsible for your block? Remember that some roads are private, and no town or village highway department is responsible to clear them (unless a snow emergency is declared). Let us know the condition of your block by leaving a comment below.
