Margaret W. Thiele of Southampton Dies at 81

Funeral is Tuesday morning at Southampton United Methodist Church for devoted church member.

Lifelong Southampton resident Margaret W. Thiele died Friday at San Simeon by the Sound Nursing Home in Greenport.

Born in in Southampton to Charles and Ernestine Wilson on March 21, 1931, she was 81 years old.

Thiele was a graduate of Southampton High School and an active member of the Southampton United Methodist Church. She was always willing to help out where needed, her family said.

She enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting and made and donated several blankets to U.S. soldiers and nursing homes.

Thiele is predeceased by her husband, William Thiele, brothers Ernie and Neil Wilson, and sister Madeline Doran.

She is survived by her children, Dawn Morris, of Southampton, and Robin and Bruce Thiele, of Hampton Bays; and two grandsons, Eugene W. Morris, of Southampton, and Dylan Ford, of Riverhead. She is also survived by her brother Arthur Wilson and wife Janet, of Southampton, and a sister-in-law, Adel Wilson, of Southampton.

A funeral will take place at the United Methodist Church of Southampton on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Pastor Leslie Duroseau, followed by interment at Southampton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Southampton United Methodist Church, Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance or Southampton Volunteer Ambulance would be appreciated by the family.
