Lifelong Sag Harbor Resident Jessie Fick Dies at 97

Fick lived in the same Sag Harbor house she was born in.

Jessie Fick, who lived her whole life in the Sag Harbor Village house she was born in, died at Southampton Hospital on Oct. 15 at the age of 97.

Born on May 24, 1916, her parents were Antone Valancius and the former Susan Bumbly, Lithuanian immigrants. 

She married "the boy next door," Henry Fick, her daughter Susan Pluchino said. They were married for 64 years until is death in 2006.

Fick worked at the Bulova watch case factory on the the assembly line, her daughter said. She retired when the factory closed.

She was a founding member of the Sag Harbor Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Fick is survived by her children Ronald Fick of Wainscott, Sharon York of Sag Harbor, and Pluchino, who also lives in Sag Harbor. Three grandchildren, Nicole Shipman, Craig Fick and Jessica Pluchino also survive, as do three great grandchildren, Brittany Fick, Erin Shipman, and Tori Fick. 

She was predeceased by her siblings and her husband. 

A Mass was held at St. Andrew's Church in Sag Harbor on Oct. 18, followed by a burial at Oakland Cemetery.

The family suggested donations be made to the Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance Corps in her memory.
