Former Southampton Science Teacher Ronald Peterson Dies
Southampton native and Navy veteran was 76.

Ronald G. Peterson, of Southampton, died Monday at Stony Brook University Hospital.
Born May 10, 1937, in Southampton to Roy G. and Edna Peterson, he was 76.
Peterson graduated from Southampton High School in 1955 and The State University at Farmingdale in 1957. After serving in the Navy from 1957 to 1961 aboard the USS Elokomin and USS Amphion, he attended The State University at Fredonia and graduated in 1966.
He married Barbara Murn Peterson on June 19, 1965.
Peterson taught earth science and general science at Southampton High School and coached the golf team. According to his family, he enjoyed boating, fishing and reading, and was a charter member of the Bull Head Yacht Club.
In addition to his wife and many other relatives and friends, Peterson is survived by his daughter, Nancy Ellen of East Quogue; his brother, David Peterson of Southampton; and his sisters, Sandra Watson of Water Mill, and Barbara Hinck of Shelton, Wa.

Visitation took place Thursday at O'Connell Funeral Home in Southampton Village. A religious service officiated by the Rev. Richard Boyer was Friday at O'Connell, followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery.
