Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, the former publisher of The New York Times and former chairman and CEO of The New York Times Company, died on Saturday at his Southampton home following a long illness, The Times reports.
He was 86.
His tenure at The Times spanned from 1963 to 1997. He is remembered as a fervent supporter of the First Amendment and the independence of the press.
