Broadway Producer Marty Richards Dies

Richards owned home on Southampton Village's Gin Lane.

Marty Richards, of Manhattan, a Broadway producer and part-time Southampton Village resident, died Monday at the age of 80, theaterlife.com reports.

Among Richards' producer credits are "Chicago," "Sweeney Tood," and "Crimes of the Heart." Just this summer, Richards produced the world premiere of "Big Maybelle: Soul of the Blues" at Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor.

Richards was the head of the film and theatrical production company, The Producer Circle, which he founded with his late wife, Mary Lea Johnson, in 1976, theaterlife.com reports.

According to Hollywood.com, Richards and his wife liked to host extravagant parties at their Southampton Village mansion on Gin Lane.
