UPDATE: Bridgehampton Native Bill Berkoski Jr. Dies at 56; Services Announced

His businesses include Berkoski Ice, Berkoski Oil and Berkoski Security.

Bill Berkoski Jr. of Berkoski Enterprises in Southampton died Tuesday. He was 56 years old.

Berkoski was a Bridgehampton native and raised his three daughters in Water Mill, according to a memo sent to Southampton Town employees Wednesday. His family business, which his father founded in 1964 according to the company website, includes , Berkoski Oil and Berkoski Security.

He was a former member of the Southampton Town Board of Assessment Review and was chairman of the town’s Business Advisory Council. He was appointed to the town Planning Board last year.

Berkoski joined the family business full time in 1974. He started as a driver making deliveries and went on to learn refrigeration, plumbing, security and electric, according to his biography on the company website. Most recently, he ran the day-to-day operations of the business.

He belonged to the for 25 years, including time as a captain of the Southampton Hose Company, according to the website.

He was also a private pilot and trained in karate. "Those who worked with him described him as detail oriented, results driven and someone whose energy and experience was an asset to any project," the town hall memo states.

Visitation will be held at on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Southampton Fire Department will host firematic services at O'Connell at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Monday at 10 a.m. at .
