TAKE BACK THE TOWN

WHO CAN YOU TRUST to ensure an environmentally and economically secure Town?

Stand up for me, like I stood up for you – the taxpayer. Send a message from the people that Southampton Town needs competent leadership and real results. Send a message that THE TRUTH MATTERS.  Untruthfulness is not permissible in a public servant.

Together, we can TAKE BACK THE TOWN from special interests.  Restore honesty, integrity and capability to the Supervisor’s Office.  We can bring back civility and move local government forward in the right direction.

Bring back a knowledgeable Supervisor who has a proven record of accomplishments as an administrator and innovator. It’s time for ego, power and behind-the-scenes manipulation to go.  I am accountable to you, the everyday people who live and work in our community, and not to outside influences.  I am the only truly Independent candidate who cannot be bought.

VOTERS: We need to take back the Supervisor’s Office and dismantle once and for all the “pay to play” culture and machinery installed by Anna Throne-Holst (“ATH”) and her cronies.  We need to restore open, honest government that is not dismissive of the points of view of others, but welcomes all to add their voices to the policy discussion.  Let’s TAKE BACK THE TOWN and put government back into the hands of the local people.

The incumbent Supervisor is centered on favors for the rich and famous, celebrities, developers, and high-ranking political party officials at the expense of the middle class.

For example, her budgets have unilaterally set up a sustainability department, that seems to have no rhyme or reason other than it’s the current vogue and passion of the rich and famous.  She has championed a $27 Million project for a beach erosion district to protect the oceanfront McMansions of her campaign fund donors, which are banking on a belief that FEMA will pay for sand replenishment in perpetuity.  Over $1.7 million in Park Reserve Funds have been allocated to this beach erosion project instead of being dedicated to traditional park improvements like ballfields and playgrounds as envisioned in our Town’s Master Plan.

Planned Development Districts (PDDs) are spiraling out of control with outrageous residential density proposals, under the failed leadership and lack of attention to detail by ATH.  Just ask the residents of Tuckahoe, North Sea and Southampton Fire Officials how they feel about 34 rental apartments to be managed by the Town Housing Authority on 2.5 acres of land near Big Fresh Pond on heavily trafficked Sandy Hollow Road.  To add insult to injury, ATH calls the neighborhood a bunch of “NIMBYs” because they have exposed the ruse of her allowing this project to be presented as an amendment to a existing PDD, which the Southampton Press editor correctly identified as a “Bait and Switch.”  Likewise, ATH has pushed hard for developers of the Canoe Place PDD, which is proposing 40 3-story townhomes on the east side of the historic Shinnecock Canal, at a density of nearly 10 units per acre, and located only 17 feet from Montauk Highway, in an area that is zoned for Resort Waterfront Business.  I strongly believe that most Hampton Bays residents prefer to continue waterfront restaurant use on the east side of the canal as part of the zoning approvals, rather than urbanizing and privatizing that area through intense residential development as the currently proposed “trade-off” to achieve historic preservation of the Canoe Place Inn on west side of the canal.

At the various debates held thus far, the incumbent Supervisor has repeatedly attempted to besmirch my reputation and proud record of accomplishments as former Supervisor and Councilwoman, but I made it clear that THE FACTS DO NOT LIE. The NYS Comptroller's Report reviewing Town finances for 2008 and 2009, and the 2010 strategic budget plan that I set forth affirmed the Town's "solid financial footing." The Feb. 2010 Moody's Credit Report applauded the Kabot administration for its "conservative and transparent financial management ... swift and effective response to correct the internal accounting procedures ... adoption of formal policies ..." and bond analysts further indicated that future rating actions will heavily weight the 2010-2011 Town Board's performance to comply with Kabot's 2010 Budget Recovery Plan. ATH is quite the actress and masterful at political spin.  Don’t’ buy it.

This election presents voters with a clear distinction between the Town Supervisor candidates.  Choose either the incumbent who prefers hob-knobbing with the rich and famous and building cozy relationships or vote for a candidate with deep roots in Southampton Town who has earned a reputation as “The People’s Supervisor.”  Continue with ATH and her untruthful, manipulative antics or elect a straight-shooter who has demonstrated principled leadership.

As a homeowner and property taxpayer for 23 years, I understand the many challenges confronting our town.  We need a courageous Supervisor who has the pulse on the community and who isn’t afraid to stand strong, tackle tough issues and take action. Over the years, I have demonstrated that I am honorable, hard-working and experienced in all facets of government administration, zoning, and budgetary matters.  For me, it’s about service above self.  It’s about doing the right thing for the people of this great Town.  As your Supervisor, you know that can put your trust in me and that I will do my very best to honestly represent you and your families.

I am grateful for the support of so many people from all walks of life, from all political stripes, throughout our Town.  As a candidate for Town Supervisor, I am proud to offer my strength of character, courage, and proven leadership to the voters.  On Election Day, November 5, I respectfully ask for your vote of confidence.  Together, we can TAKE BACK THE TOWN!
